ABOUT US
The GRELL Network is a scientific community dedicated to cancer epidemiology and cancer registry research in Latin-language countries.
Founded in 1975, the GRELL is fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and methodological harmonization among cancer registries and researchers.
Our network actively supports epidemiological cancer research, with strong focus on data quality, cancer surveillance, and population-based cancer registration. By facilitating interdisciplinary discussions and joint research initiative, the GRELL contributes to advancing cancer knowledge and improving public health strategies across its member countries.

Key Objectives
Partnerships
- Advancing Cancer Registration
GRELL supports the development, standardization, and improvement of cancer registries, promoting high quality, population-based cancer data for cancer research and public health planning.
- Enhancing Epidemiological Research
GRELL fosters large-scale, collaborative epidemiological studies to analyze cancer incidence, survival, risk factors, quality of care, and trends, providing valuable insights for cancer prevention and control strategies.
- Capacity Building & Professional Development
GRELL is committed to training the next generation of cancer professionals and researchers’ through workshops, training courses, and high-level scientific exchanges, ensuring continuous learning, methodological innovation and knowledge exchange
GRELL is committed to fostering international collaboration among its member countries. By bridging expertise and resources, we support the advancement of high-quality cancer data, research methodologies, and public health strategies. Our network maintains strong partnerships with leading global and regional organizations, including the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the International Association of Cancer Registries (IACR), and the World Health Organization (WHO). As a founding member of the European Network of Cancer Registries (ENCR), GRELL continues to play a vital role in shaping cancer registration standards and research collaborations in Europe and beyond.
Over the years, GRELL has expanded its scope to include Latin-language cancer registries not only across Europe (Belgium, Luxembourg, Romania, and others) but also in North, Central, and South America, and Africa. This growing global network enhances knowledge exchange, promotes best practices, and contributes to harmonized cancer data collection for improved cancer control and prevention worldwide.
